This gallery crosses rivers with the bridges photographed by Karl Forterre. In Niort, ducks swim in a flooded canal under a bridge — the most viewed photo in the gallery — and a promenade runs along the Sèvre Niortaise beneath the spire of Notre-Dame. In Villandry, a bridge decked with pink geraniums spans the river; in Cognac, a stone arch bridge carries lampposts and flower boxes; in Toulouse, the Pont Saint-Pierre lights up at night near the dome of La Grave.

Aqueducts have their place too: the one at Laval, and a series devoted to another stone aqueduct, its arches and the nearby village. Then come the footbridges: a green footbridge under weeping willows, crossed by a man, a wooden footbridge over a weir beside an old mill, a metal footbridge above a small cascade, and another over a clear river reflecting the trees.
